Audax Randonneurs Malaysia is a cycling club that wishes to promote cycling randonnées à allure libre (at unrestricted speed) throughout Malaysia, according to the model which it created in 1921, and currently governed by the regulations of Audax Club Parisien‘s “Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux” (BRM).
In 2016, Audax Randonneurs Malaysia organized 2 brevets. In 2017, a complete series of Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux which will cover 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km will be held.
The Country Representative will plan the routes and submit the details to ACP for approval. All events which are officially designated as BRM will be published on the official ACP calendar each year in January.
Audax has its origins in Italian endurance sports of the late nineteenth century, and the rules were formalised in France in the early twentieth century. The challenge of Audax is not in racing. Participants cover long distances at their own speed. The organizer will need to set up checkpoints which more or less regularly spaced between the BRM start and finish. According to the distance, there should be:
2-4 checkpoints for 200km (13.5 hours)
3-5 checkpoints for 300km (20 hours)
4-6 checkpoints for 400km (27 hours)
5-7 checkpoints for 600km (40 hours)
6-10 checkpoints for 1000km (75 hours)
At the start of each official BRM, each qualifying rider will be given a Brevet Card. Please make sure you have navigation file for your Garmin or other cycle computer or a Cue Sheet (usually, all soft copies will be uploaded in the facebook group before the event) indicating the route and the location of checkpoints. Riders must stay on the route and stop at each checkpoint to have their card stamped. Missing checkpoint stamps or loss of the brevet card will result in disqualification.
All the riders must be self sufficient. No follow cars or support of any kind are permitted to assist the riders during the ride on the course (support is allowed at the official checkpoints). Below are the 2015-2019 Finisher Medals.
